How do you import a CSV file into MySQL?

How do you import a CSV or other text doc into MySQL using phpMyAdmin or another program? I'm a pretty proficient web developer but now, thanks to Fantastico, I'm able to use php and MySQL without knowing much. I love dotProject and other programs. But I don't know how to import a CSV into the MySQL db. I tried to follow the phpMyAdmin manual instructions but couldn't make it work. Clear instructions in a tutorial would be great.

After trying comma delimited with no success I found using a tab delimited format worked a breeze.
