Update information useing notepad

How do i update parts of my web page using notepad?

I've heard that you can write content into a notepad file, this will then appear on the web page. (also thought it was a simple process!!)

Brief reason why i want this...

I'm a beginner to web design and dreamweaver, but i'm creating a 'Call-out' web page(s) for the company i work for, with contact details, times to contact them for all the different departments (more than 50). But if any of the details change temporally, they won't be able to update the page themselves. So i was hopeing they could just type out the details in notepad and this will then appear on the appropriate web page.

Hope the above made sense, and hope even more that someone can help!

Contribute might be a way to go.....

thats a bit to simplistic really and might sound good but its not the best way to go. For example dmxzone uses the pop-up editor windo which is far more effective in achieving what you want to do.

it required rethinking your project but its well worth the effort in the end. Alternatively you should consider contribute from macromedia.

Ultimately, I agree with Stuart that there are probably some better ways to go... but, here is how to do what you asked and you can determine for yourself if you want to use this method.

Assuming you are using ASP, simply add an include file into your code wherever you want the contents of the text file to show, like below:
