If you are looking for a bulletin board forum application like this one, Snitz Forums (an open source project) is available without banners at: forum.snitz.com/
It is easy to install, configure, and customize, and works great.
Another free BB to consider would be the Ideal BB by Ideal Science at www.idealbb.com
There are probably more out there, but these two came to mind first.
