I am using DW4 & have created a user interface in Fireworks 4 that takes up the left side & the top of the page. I have brought the page into DW and tried to create a template. After finally getting a template to work I tried to created some text on the right side of the page where I will put all the information. The problem I am having is that as soon as I hit the enter button it creates huge white gaps in the left navigation bar. Is there anything I can do to lock them so they will not move? What am I doing wrong? Thanks
Mike

This sounds like you do not have enough space in the table created by FW. Try to set the border of that table to 1 to visualize the problem to yourself.
Maybe you need to play around with some spann values (joining and splitting cells). Or use layers as an alternative.
It is difficult to give you a perfect working example for your case.

I'm somewhat of a new user to Dreamweaver all together. I am having the same issue as Hemlock. I created an image in Fireworks that goes from the left hand side of the page up around the top, basic web layout. I sliced it up and created tables in Dreamweaver using the layout view to place the exported slices into. That worked great. I then tried to invert the image (done successfully)and move it to the bottom right of the page (so it looks like the page is out lined but with gaps in either corner)and that worked too using layout view drawing tables and cells. Now when I went to type text in the middle of the page, the body, I created another table with 3 cells (1column, 1 row)so that I could place text in the top, an image in the middle, and text at the bottom. Guess what....no luck. The shapes that I created on the outsides moved apart causing white gaps between each slice. So my question is, and I assume Hemlocks as well, how the heck do you get everything to stay together? I thought by using nested tables I would be set...not a chance. Very frustrating to say the least and there isn't really any help for this issue? I've been on Macromedia and the Dreamweaver Bible...no luck? Any help would be tremendously appreciated. Thank you..

Hi!
I've hade this problem to and I find two solution.
First, if your left side image is not plain color, you have to make a longer canvas and make fit to your text.
If you use plain color don't fill it in fireworks, fill it in dreamweaver. You delete the spacer image and fill the cell with the good color.
hope this help<img src=../images/fwzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
