Ok i know this sounds stupid but in ud4 when i am trying to make the BD connection, i make it, select the dsn, i test it and it says ' connection was made sucsessfully. then once you hit ok it makes the folder and the connection is in there. but it still wont come up on the list of avalibe connections or reset the databindings screen.
I might be stupid so i deleted the site and re-created it, no luck. i reinstalled my ud4 and then my computer, no luck.
I am trying to conect to my server running nt4.0 & iis and my computer running 98 and pws.
Any one got any ideas? This is starting to get annoying.
i have been trying to find this answer in a couple of other posts but no luck. I am unable to connect to the dreamwever forum due to the firewall here.

thanks for your help
ps this site is great. keep it up.

Are you sure everything is created OK in your local site folder? Do you have the connection in the Commentions folder?
What OS are you running and what connection are you making?

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

As far as i can tell everything is set up right. But i can not find a folder called 'commentions'. thier is a connections folder and i have checked that it has been copyied over to the server. Was that a misspelling?

Chris, I had to face this problem only once. This was because I made the connection settings when having the ServerLanguage set to ASP/JScript and after that changed to ASP/VBScript. Then you need to redefine your connections.
I'm not sure that this is the case for you.

IT's a very strange story you have. I suggest calling MM to solve thos problem.

Thank you for replying to my post. As you suggested i stuffed around with the VB/java scriting and even tryed downloading a trial of CF onto my server and no luck.
As for MM they are of no help. I have had a thread running in thier forum for about 5 days now and nothing. Exept for one person emailing me asking if i had solved the problem because he had the same one.
I have not checked today but all hope is faiding. so to speak.
It must be a problem with my setup/ computer as i have been though all of the posts in the mm forum and there is nothing else reported like this. So that leads me to believe that it is a setting or somthing.
I will let you know if i solve this.<img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle>

Ok after much stuffing around with this one it turned out to be very simple (as they most often do) thanks to mm support. I ended up getting to them though a bug report.
here is a copy of the email he sent me

&gt;Hello Chris,

&gt;Thank you for contacting Macromedia &gt;Technical Support.

&gt;Please make sure your default page &gt;extension in the Application Server &gt;category of your site definition is set to &gt;the extension for your server model (.asp &gt;for ASP, .jsp for Java, .cfm for &gt;ColdFusion).

&gt;I have noticed that if the default page &gt;extension is .htm or .html, the connections &gt;do not display in the connections window, &gt;even though you can successfully create &gt;them.

&gt;Otherwise, this may result from an &gt;installation problem. You might want to &gt;consider reinstallation. Should you do so, &gt;please uninstall using Add/Remove Programs &gt;in the Control Panel, reboot, then refer to &gt;the following TechNote for installation &gt;guidelines.
&gt;www.macromedia.com/go/3533
&gt;
&gt;But, hopefully it's just an issue with the &gt;default page extension.

&gt;Regards,

&gt;Chris Valiquet

Thank you for all of your suggestions.
Chris

Great! I have never though of that! Well I will still call it a BUG!
Could you please add that to the FAQ section?

Thanks!

Chris,

thanks for letting us know the solution. How simple things can be in live <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>.
Yes, adding this to the FAQ section would be a good idea. In that way we can collect some good problem solving tips.
