A question,
Is it possible, like a repeat region, to create next and forward button depending on the size of a (memo) tekst of 1 output recordset.
to avoid the ugly scrollbars from text coming from a database(memo field, I am looking for a way to create a &lt;forward&gt; and &lt;next&gt; button.

Kind regards
Patrick

No this is not really possible. You could do lots of DHTML tricks using layers and javascript to make a workaround. But you can never get this really working without any scrolling.
I think that www.projectseven.com might have some usefull extensions to scroll layers etc so when you want to give it a try you can <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

When you want to show only a specific amount of text (so 10 words) and use a Read More button linking to the entire text then you can use the Trim Text and Trim Wordsw extensions that are available at our extensions section. But they won't allow you to show word 1-20 on page one, and 21-40 on page two. You should programm something like that by hand.

But the amount of text that causes scrollbars is so unpredictable: what screen resolution is someone using, is it in a fixed or a non-fixed table, what font is being use etc etc... it is very hard to find an answer on all these questions.

Personally I would go for the Trim Text extension using a link that pops up the entire text in a new window.

Waldo, Thank you for your response. Perhaps using flash (for textual purposes)might work. (stretch it within a frame, and using wordcount to define if a next button should show).

Should you know a fla file which can do the trick, please let me know.

Kind regards
Patrick
