I would like to use a full absolute path for my images, but the Advanced HTML Editor 3 seems to remove any ...

http://example.com/media/picture.jpg

... component and replaces it with the relative path....

../media/picture.jpg

When I open the code and edit the source directly, replacing the relative path of the image with its absolute URL path, somehow after the save into the database, the code reverts back to its absolute path.

In the older HTML Editor I was able to do this, but not in Editor 3. Is there something (or a setting) that I'm missing?
