I just moved from FrontPage to Dreamweaver and have found difficulty with one feature. I need to place text over an image and I can't find articles or instructions on how to do it. In FP there is an icon that creates a small text box on the image where one types a couple of words or a short line. Is there an equivalent or similar way, or does DW even allow the placement of text over images?Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jose,
best decision you ever made to move away from frontpage <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
there are lots of ways to do text over image, here are a couple, but there will be others who use it more than me that will say different, there are 'many ways to skin a cat'
My preferred way would be CSS, so I would have a div and set the image as the background, then put the text into a paragraph, set display as block, then you can add margins etc and move the text around over the image. This would give you great control.
My least favourite way would be to do the text in something like fireworks, putting it in a layer over the image, then saving as a jpg or png file, messy when you come to modify it.
And . . . if you have lots to do, then you could do it with ImageMagick, a server-side photo-manipulation package that can do almost anything with images etc, including making buttons, resizing, overlays. As the name says - image magic <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
