running multiple Dreamweaver versions

I've heard that muliple versions of Dreamweaver can be run on the same pc but is it true? Like Dreamweaver 8 and CS3/CS4 ?
This would be done for extension version compatibility.
Also, if I upgrade from Dreamweaver 8 to CS3 can they still both be run?
