<font face='Arial'>Hi! I´m quite new to CS3, an have been working with the basics for about 6 months now. My question is how do I get the directory path in URL to skip all the .asp .html endings?
Example: I would like my visitors to be able to write www.thepagesname.com/news or www.thepagesname.com/facts and be directed to the right spot and not the whole
www.thepagesname.com/news.<b>html</b>
Wery greatful for any help!

Hi
one way to do this is to have a directory called whatever you want people to add - so, for example on your server you create a sub-directory called facts within your www directory (that's where your usual index.htm file would be. Then within facts you place another file called index.htm - now when your visitor type www.domain.com/facts they will get the file www.domain.com/facts/index.htm
if you are using .asp files then check with your hosting provider, but I would expect the server to look for index.htm index.html index php and index.asp and serve whichever one it finds

Hi Alan!
Thanks a lot.
I had a theory like you wrote, only that I used default instead of index.
Unforutnately it does not work, I get: "Directory Listing Denied
This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed."
And I dont know why.

Hi again Inger
you have to call the file index.htm or whatever because that is what the server looks for, otherwise you will always get the directory listing, try changing the name and it should work <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
