I am having a problem. I have 2 SSI's that function fine on my page and the footer throws a strange character set before displaying the SSI for the footer text.It does this on all .htm pages but on the .asp pages the strange character is not there.
Here is the strange character(s) that appear in the browser. This also appears as an empty box just before the include in the "view source":

I have tried tightening up so there are no spaces or hidden characters to no avail. This is every page on the site except .asp pages (of which there are maybe 4 out of 200 or more).
Thank you for your help in advance...this is really killing me.

I had this issue to, and what fixed the problem for me was the encoding on the page. This issue came across for me if the meta type was iso-8859-1, it creates that weird character error and doesn't display the page correctly. However when you set the meta type to utf-8, the page renders fine.
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8" /> - Good
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset=iso-8859-1" /> - Bad

Hope this can fix your problem.
