I am desperate in solving this problem. In Dream Weaver CS3 I try to create a new connection to MYSQL using the exact same connection I use to connect with Navicat (which works fine) and with DW I get the error:
----
The URL prefix localhost/ for this site's testing server could not be resolved.
This could be caused by several reasons.
1. You have specified a local root folder that does not fall under the web server root folder. <--- It's set to the same folder that localhost points to.
2. There is no web server running on the URL. <---There is, I type localhost in browser I get the index located in the web server root folder.
3. There is a web server running but no virtual web folder has been mapped to this prefix. A web virtual folder mapping is needed for local sites that aren't under the web root folder. <--- It is under the web root folder.

I'm running on a Mac, php4, and MySQL Ver 4. Also I am using Zend Studio for PHP coding.
Please I am at my wits end

Hi Richard
I am having exact same problem. Have found several others also with the dammed thing. Seems specific to DW CS3 running on a Mac.
Do you know of a solution yet?

No I have not found one. Someone on another board (I posted this on several) thought it might be related to MySQ: Rights. Made no differance.
Are you running Zend Studio too?

No, not Zend. I was running MySQL 4.1, but after the problem started, upgraded to 5 to see if that made a difference - but, no.

Embarrassed to say that I had caused the error myself - by automatically stopping Dreamweaver connecting to port 80 with Little Snitch. The connection is now working fine!
