I am having a problem uploading files over 200k on a windows 2003 server, it works fine on my local testing server. I have read the stuff about this
www.dmxzone.com/ShowDetail.asp?NewsId=5424
but don't know how to make it happen. I emailed my ISP with the information but they say "Unfortunately these are Microsoft default settings and it is not possible to alter this size"
PLEASE HELP

Hi Beccy,

As it is written into the FAQ, the <i>AspMaxRequestEntityAllowed</i> can be changed.

This is a link to another article of Microsoft which discuss modification of <i>AspMaxRequestEntityAllowed</i> value.

If you cannot make the changes by yourself, you should contact your System Administrator with this information.

<b>Note:</b> Despite that the DMXzone FAQ shows how <i>AspMaxRequestEntityAllowed</i> can be set to 1GB, do not increase the value so much. Otherwise, your server could become exposed to denial of service attacks.

Thank you for your reply George, the microsoft article has helped me reset the AspMaxRequestEntityAllowed as I couldn't before as I only could find a metabase.bin file and not a metabase.XML. But that is on my local testing server on my PC and all uploads work well.

It is how I change the settings on the remote server that is the main problem as the hosting company I use (i said ISP before by mistake) say "Unfortunately these are Microsoft default settings and it is not possible to alter this size".

I don't know much about servers so me changing these settings on my pc is it going to help when I pulish them to the remote server?

Hi Beccy,

Unfortunately, only the System Administrator of your hosting company can make these changes at the remote server.
If they refuse to make the required changes (perhaps, due to their security policy), it cannot be done more than:

* Trying to contact someone who can authorize such changes
* Consider changing your host providers
