This happened occasionally in DW8.02, and now it happens almost all the time in DW CS3. Working with the ASP/VBScript model, whenever I put in an insert record or update record behavior, DW runs its little scripts to determine what behaviors are in the page. When everything works correctly, it shows the Insert Record or Update Record in the Server Behaviors panel. However, I am now constantly getting pop up errors within DW that say something like Javascript errors with running findServerBehaviors in the Insert Record2.htm or Update Record2.htm, depending on the server behavior.

This happens regardless of whether is a brand new page or old page re-coded with DW MX, MX2004, 8.02 or CS3 VBScript. This is super annoying, and I have yet to find anything referencing an error like this in Adobe newsgroups/forums or in search engines.

It is slowly driving me crazy. Help!

Hi, I am getting the same error:

The exact error is:

While executing findServer Behaviors in Update Record2.htm, a JavaScript error occurred

I get this all the time and it is driving me nuts also, please email me at: if you ever figure this one out. Give me your email and I'll do the same. If anyone on here knows a solution please help before we end up in the nut house <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hi, I think I fixed it on mine. You need to delete the file:

C:\Documents and Settings\Robert\Application Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver 9\Configuration-1

WinFileCache-AD76BB20 (the ending will be different on yours)

and delete

C:\Documents and Settings\Robert\Application Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver 9\Configuration

WinFileCache-AD76BB20

I did this and it works fine now. Let me know

I have the same problem in CS3, but not with Dreamweaver 8. I noticed that if I close Dreamweaver CS3 and reopen the file, then the Update behavoir shows up in the panel.
But it is very anoying. I'll probably go back to use DW8.

Add me to the list of frustrated people this is happening to in Dreamweaver CS3. What a pain. I wish there was a formal solution for this.

This seems to be a temporary solution. The problem comes back. What's weird is that the errors never occur when creating the extensions for the first time. For me it's always when I go to update a page that already had the extension work on it. To bad the errors aren't more detailed like asp page errors, where the problematic line of code is noted.

Hi All.

Have anybody discovered a solution yet?

I really would like to avoid deleting my configuration folder which would mean that I would delete all of my extensions. I would hate to have to reinstall them again...

Do any of you use the XML Slideshow Extension?

Yes Jon, I have been using that extension and also previously have made the change to the configuration file that they recommend on their site (in Dreaweaver CS3). I just upgraded to CS4 last week, and have not yet encountered the javascript error at all. Coincidentally (or maybe not), I have not yet reinstalled that xml slideshow extension.

I tested several sites where I always used to get that javascript error and I can't repeat it. I also have other extensions that I had before that are not yet reinstalled but the main ones I use all are. Are you thinking it could have been this xml slideshow extension that caused the problem?

I had some problems with AJAX Datagrid a couple weeks ago as well. With some one by one testing of extensions, I found XML slideshow to be the problem. Another person that had the same problems I had with AJAX Datagrid duplicated my tests and found the XML Slideshow to also be a problem for her. I have disabled that extension and that seems to have also solved the insert/update records problem, though I did not even think about that until this latest post today. I know DMXZone tried contacting the XML Slideshow developer, but did not get any response.

From what I've seen so far, your results would appear to be accurate. I will repost results of something changes. That would be such a relief to have finally figured this error out. This error has driven me nuts for so long.
