Here's my problem. I created a web layout in Photoshop CS2, created my gif and jpeg slices then saved the project for the web for implementation into Dreamweaver. Now I was told that once my project is open, switch to layout mode. Now here is where I get frustrated, to be safe, I go to create a layout table over one of the slices....no problem. It shows me the width of the table, everything is good. Now i was told in a few tutorials that in order to store content in a table; text, images or animations I must create a layout cel as well. So I click on layout cell and I'm suppose to go to the top left of the table and a crosshair cursor is suppose to appear. However, an icon appears on the screen when I scrool my mouse over the table. I assuming this means that I did something wrong. So that's where I'm stuck. I can make a layout table but not a layout cell. A little help please...... Elliott

HI Elliot,
this is not going to solve your problem <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle>
but in the long term it could . . . can I suggest that you re-consider how you are doing your layouts and that rather than doing them in Photoshop and slicing up the image you consider doing them directly in DW. The reason I suggest that is that if you have all your text etc in images that are then sliced up and delivered as a table the search engines will not see any of your text so they will not be able to send people to your site.
The other issue is that with the layout tables you can end up with a very large table having hundreds of cells, that leads to a much bigger file than necessary, maintenance is not so easy either.
If you can bear to look at cascading style sheets then they can help by giving you smaller files but they are not as easy as using tables for layout.

hey elliot, nice site, a very solid start. Like alan said, i would think about using CSS for layouts, and to do it all in DW, without photoshop. Layers are really easy to use, and i posted up a link on your other topic about CSS.
Regarding your prob, i copied over your code over to DW, just to see what was up. What i'm suspecting is that you're trying to create a cell over another cell, which doesn't work.
For example, over your header image. You won't be able to create a cell there, because there already is a cell there holding the header img. You'd have to resize that cell to be smaller (rather than equal too) the table size. to be able to resize the cell tho, you would have to resize (or remove) the img thats there.
Now, i know you said that you had drawn the layout table in DW and then tried to insert a cell, but thats the only solution i can think of without actually seeing what you're seeing. Is it possible that you put up the code that you get after slicing your img in photoshop?
Thats my initial diagnosis tho, and thats assuming that i understood your problem. where exactly on your page are you trying to create another cell?
btw, just a few tips on the site, use a flash player if you can rather than media player, cuz it wouldn't open in Firefox for me.
hoped this crazy long post helped <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle>
