Otay, does anyone know of some type of workaround when you have trouble getting the hosting IP to set permissions Read/Write for everyone for the data folder/s to update databases. I have an FTP site set up in house (W2K). Can that be used as a location for all my databases or must it be on the actual web server where the site is located?

Thanks in advance,

John

Unusual for an ISP to make no facility to use a database. Some have a db folder below the root of the web which have the permission, this method also has a high level of protection due to the folder being below the root.

I have a couple of sites that pull data from a central site using XML, maybe this could be your solution, failing that look for a more helpful ISP!

Otay, my provider has done just what you recommended (I passed your info on to him about below the root). Everything is fine, the sun is out, clouds are gone and I have can read/write to my db folder.

Thanks,
John
