Sorting Columns in Tables

I have just inherited a web site that has tables in it with five columns. By clicking on the Heading of each column, the data is sorted either in ascending or descending order. I cannot seem to duplicate this in Dreamweaver MX. My knowledge of JS is that it is a foreign language!! Help please,BJS

if the tables are generated from a database then they might be regenerated each time it is sorted by using a different query
