I am trying to connect to MySQL on 1and1 using DW8 and keep getting:

1 There is no testing server running on the server...
2 The testing server specified for this sit.....

My basic php pages work. I have all of the correct log in info and when I hit ok on the MySQL box, an icon with the correct name appears under my database tab but with no files listed under store "Stored Prodedures, Tables..." 1and1's tech support don't seem to be any help. I also went into Manage Sites (Testing Server) and entered mydomain.com/. I am using a "Training from the Source" and everything seems to check out. Any ideas?

1and1 does not allow you to connect remotely to their database server.

You haven't said what OS you are running? I have Win XP Pro which has a built-in webserver - what I have done is installed PHP and mySQL on my local (XP) webserver and have created a copy of the database on my local mySQL server. I then use that for testing (by using localhost/mywebsite/). That works a dream...
