Hi there,

I am a graphic/web designer trying really hard to get my head around PHP. I have the O'reilly 'Learning PHP and MySQL' and have hit a major wall trying to enable PHP on my mac. The book's instructions for the Mac are baffling to say the least, and I have contacted the book's blog/user forum but had no response. So, I did a fair bit of googling and came up with some slightly more instructive advice about using 'Terminal' to enable PHP - I am told to launch Pico, through the following command in Terminal:
sudo pico /etc/httpd/httpd.conf
but when I do this, terminal asks me for my admin password, but won't allow me to type anything?? If I hit return, it just says invalid password?? There is only one user on my system, so it's definitely not a permissions thing.

If anyone has any idea about how to help I would be soooo greatful!

Thanks, viv

Through the terminal you wont see the password being typed but it is. Just try the password you use to login to mac.

Thanks so much for that - I'll give it a try.
