Hello,

I am a new to Dreamweaver, and I was trying to follow the sample application described in the 'Getting Started' from help. Everything went fine up to trying to Creating a Database Connection where I have the 404 error. I realize that it must be something with the location of my files, but I believe I have everything all right. I have followed the example stept by step and all the other tests went just fine.
Can anyone please help me get out of this dead end?!

Did you find a solution to this problem in the end? I only ask as I am having the exact same problem. It is so damned frustrating, spent the past 2 days trauling google and various forums and there seem to be so many conflicting instructions. I am using xampp by the way and the only thing that I see that seems to be wrong is in the MinMySQLAdmin window, where under Environment, the MyODBC panel simply says "Not found. Driver 3.51 not found."
Christ almighty! I have searched google for a solution to this and as to whether it is even relevent to what I am trying to do (connect to the mysql database in Dreamweaver for a login page for my website) and can never seem to find a straightforward answer to the problem.
Any help would be seriously appreciated - for example the information that I have/should have typed into the site definition.
Also, why does xampp come with both MySQL and Apache - aren't they both servers?

404 means that the page was not found on the server. That suggests that either it's not been uploaded or there is a link not pointing to the correct place

try looking at the DW view that shows your local site on the right and the server on the left (expand to show - it's like a square in the files panel) from that you should be able to see where your files are

another possible thing to check is that your server does have the database facility, you might have to set the database up in advance and alocate users and passwords first. If your hosting package uses the cpanel control panel you should be able to see the databases fairly quickly

btw my experience is with php and mysql so if it's asp I will not have a clue <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle>

I don't know how I got mine to work, but after hours of tormenting myself on the dreamweaver support site, I ended up here, and Alan's comment aided, with some mod's.

Check to be sure that in the site definition for both remote and testing use "passive FTP" and "firewall". also, try dropping the "www." off of your host directory and URL prefix for the testing and reote servers. my testing has no host directory.

It worked for me.

ok, I was having this problem myself and I finally fixed it. You have to make sure the "URL prefix" that you set under the "Testing Server" option in the "Site Manager" is the same as the "HTTP address" that you have set under "Local Info" in the "Site Manager".

I made them the same and now all is well. Best of Luck,
