Has anyone else run into this problem?

I'm working on a website using Dreamweaver8, ASP and MS Access2003. The content of the pages is entered through Advanced HTML Editor. I have the "Make XHTML Compliant" box checked and the code looks fine until it gets entered into the Access database. Then all of the "br /" tags are turned into "br" tags, etc.

Please help!
