I ran into this same problem and found a couple of useful articles. One was Adobe's Active Content Update Article: www.adobe.com/devnet/activecontent/articles/devletter.html
The other was Microsoft:
msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/workshop/author/dhtml/overview/activating_activex.asp
If you use Dreamweaver, they have extensions ($) which input all the code for you, unless you use 8.0 for which they have an update that repairs active content on web pages. But if you're good with code, the fix in the Adobe article is pretty good and free.
