I have been trying to connect to a SQL database on another computer to use for development of a new website using ASP.NET

I can setup the initial connection in DW8 with the Data Link Properties dialog and building the connection. When I click "Test Connection" it connects successfully. However, when I then try to use the connection and grab the available tables for developing pages, it errors out with an error (that I now can't get it to display the error again).

The results in the Application window under the Database tab state that: Stored Procedures, Tables, and Views = None (which isn't true).

My questions, is this a simple permissions problem? Does the remote computer need to have IIS or .NET framework running?

Thanks

UPDATE: Got a capture of the error message I get after I'm originally told it can connect:
