I’m new to DW and no expert as you’ll see I go forward a few steps and back some - I’m learning

To cut a long storey short I’ve spent a week or two trying to get firstly php to be included into my site. I tried all sorts of tests in the end I found I had been misinformed by my host and the capabilities of my type of hosting account.

Now I’ve essentially ended up overcoming that, but the problem now is that through various trying testing and experimenting that I've done I’ve ended up with various problems.

Probably obvious to you experts out there!

Firstly the reason I found out I have the problems was because I wanted to do a site map for SEO.

So I put my URL into a free sitemap maker (it’s free in case anyone wants to know www.sitemapdoc.com) and it showed up a few things about my site.

Firstly I have a duplicate index page, one ends in “index.html”
and one just ends with index, but only “index.html” shows in my local and remote site views?

And now I’ve noticed that if I go to a page from my home page then back it sends me back to “homepage/index.html” and not just “homepage”

The next problem I have is at one point I uploaded another index page and so not to get confused called it “indexduff.html” later I deleted it and thought nothing of it but, now if I try to look at map view on local or remote it shows “indexduff.html” only and will not show my normal site map
I don’t seam to be able to get rid of it either? I’ve tried to delete it and “get” It thinking of retrieving it but DW tells me it’s not on the remote site.

Any suggestions! Thanks John

You may wish to get a copy of an FTP program such as FileZilla. This will allow you to see what's really on the server. Often, your ISP has your files stored in a place such as www.yourwebsite/public_html/a bunch of files.

The FTP program will allow you to change the permission levels of the files.
Doing that will allow you to delete them.

Dreamweaver's local and remote views are handy, but they don't always get things right.

If you are looking to add PHP functionality to your work, you may enjoy seeing the InterAKT products. They offer a lot of features that should have been in Dreamweaver anyway.
