Hi all,
I've been designing and scripting sites for a while, but recently decided to move away from Notepad and try something a little easier (yeah right), so along came Dreamweaver and Fireworks.

I've designed and developed my most recent site in Fireworks, imported it to Dreamweaver for a form to be added, etc but now when I open the site in Fireworks again, I can't edit any of the page without deleting sections - looks like slices have been added on top of everything but I can't remove them without removing some of my page....can anyone please help me with this or explain why I can't edit anymore?

Thanks for the help.
Jon

I can't change the png files either,,,for some reason working on the FW files in DW has not only made the htm files unchangable in FW, but also the original png's - this is turning into a major drama (missed the online date, so any help would be appreicated).

Thanks.

I have had this happen in the past and thought I just opened the html file in fireworks... but tonight after struggling with so many design problems (have been designing since 1999 and using dreamweaver and fireworks)... I opened the file in Dreamweaver and tried to edit the png file in Fireworks out of Dreamweaver... and it is the same as when you have written. Lots of slices but no editable pieces. URGGGGGH! Looks like I will now have to design the page all over again (actually... 10 pages)!!! I don't understand what happened between the two programs. They are suppose to work together. Let me know if you received an answer or if someone can help. Apparently not though because your email is a few weeks old. -Pamela-

Hi,
sorry tho hear you had the same issue.
No I never recieved an official post on here, although one person emailed me (Thanks John) and said the following:

Sounds desperate and I'm afraid that I'm not going to be able to help you. I would suggest that you'd probably get more of a response if you were to post at the Adobe forums - either Dreamweaver or Fireworks forums, or maybe both. They are much more active than DMXZone and there's some damned knowledgable people there: www.adobe.com/support/forums/

You say that you've hand coded previously, if so I'd suggest NEVER using Fireworks to produce your HTML. Sort your images in Fireworks and do your site in Dreamweaver (DW produces much cleaner code and is designed for developers). Firework's page building feature is there for graphic designers who aint got the inclination to mess around with code.

I had to rewrite the site again as well,,,,sorry. I spent quite a while trying to fix the issue but couldn't figure it out -I agree, the software packages are meant to work together <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

Good luck. Sorry I couldn't help.
