Hey all, so cool to find this site. My first time here. basically I had my website built in some kind of code by a past friend but now cannot manage. I am a hands on learner so reading and tutorials is not the best for me. I plan to slowly learn dream weaver as time goes on. Like many, I need to learn to build and support my own site.

My first question. I have been told that I might be able to somehow import my website from my host (PHP) into Dream weaver, and most of it might be pretty well organised and just need a little repair. I still dont understand the linking to websites so I am a little confused. I am an infant in website understandng so far.

Can anyone give me some very basic steps to dragging my site into Dreamweaver to get me a start with rebuilding? if looking at my website helps: www.burrowsphoto.com

Thanks again and i look forward to talking to all.

just a suggestion, but I would create a c:/web/ on your drive. in DW create a site using c:/web/ as the root directory. access the ftp user id and password and download the site into the root directory.

you will than have the site on you c: drive ...

hi

you need to go to files panel and edit site definition and go throught the options and tell it where you have created your web folder and also go to remote info and choose ftp, then put in you ftp adress normally something like ftp.mysite.com, then username and password then click the test button, but you will have to be a little carefull because you can tell dreamweaver which folder on the web you files live in , if you see the name of that folder and go back to the settings and add that bit in, you will be able to download all the files to your computers web folder at a click of a button

cheers
