hello forum,
as usual forgot something <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle> after reading the help file found that you need to copy an extra file to the server :
"Clicking Yes in either of the first two Convert Active Content dialog boxes causes Dreamweaver to locate existing object tags that contain param tags and/or embed tags, wrap those object tags in noscript tags, and add script tags that enable the expected functioning of active content by calling JavaScript functions in an external file. Dreamweaver creates this external file (AC_RunActiveContent.js), and places it in a new folder (called Scripts, placed at the root of your site) when you save the updated file. It is extremely important that you upload the AC_RunActiveContent.js file when you upload the updated page, either manually or by clicking Yes in the Dependent Files dialog box."
so the problem has been solved for me and hopefully for others that forgot to reed the help file

Hello Paul,
Had exactly the same problem yesterday.
You have indeed to upload some javascript files to the server too.
Now I have problems with all Server Behaviours from Dreamweaver itself (insert / update / login,...).
Always giving error :
"ReferenceError: Fieltypes is not defined" on line 161 of the appropriate .js files in the Program Files/Macromedia/Dreamweaver 8/...
Can you check this on your insert, etc... pages and let me know if this occurs on your pages too ?
Thanks,
Wim

Hi all,
Problem solved by removing the configuration folder of Dreamweaver 8.
When restarting Dreamweaver, this folder is recreated automatically and problem was solved.
Important note : all your extensions must be reinstalled too !
Hope this helps some of you,
Wim

hello forum and wim
thanks for your replies. as instructed I disengaged all my extensions before the 8.02 update and engaged them ( one by one ....) after the update. that is probably the reason I could not reproduce the errors you mentioned. it seems a good idea if somebody ( because for me this would be abacadabra ) could write an extension wich disables and enables all your extensions together in stead of one by one .
well so far dreamweaver is back to normal

Phil,
I didn't have these errors but several others.
All my problems were solved after removing the "configuration" folder of Dreamweaver.
You find this at : c:\documents and settings\userxxx\application data\macromedia\dreamweaver 8\configuration
Close Dreamweaver / Delete this entire folder / Restart Dreamweaver.
All libraries etc... wil be rebuilt for 8.0.2...
MIND !! : Only do this if you don't find any other solution !! All extensions will have to be reinstalled ! Also all your preferences are gone, ...
Hope this helps,
Wim

Maybe I can get some feedback here... I posted a new message about 8.02 problems this week and got no reply. I am very new to all of this and have NO extensions installed in my DW, but only wanted the 8.02 to get rid of the "AC" boxes appearing around my flash objects on the page. It is very important that I learn how to alleviate this because I am not a codewriter or programmer, and my flash skill is "beginner" at best, but I do want some flash content on my pages, and I don't want to rely on templates. After applying the "fix" script I had the same problem with flash content not showing up in my browser previews at all; even though the very first page I "fixed" seemed to work fine, box gone, AC content script uploaded to server along with dependent files. Then the trouble started... on some pages I couldn't see the swf in either IE or FF previews, and on a few pages, the swf showed up fine in the previews, but after uploading, the active webpage had empty table where the flash should be... and I checked, the js file WAS in the web folder. Then it got even weirder. I reopened an html page with no flash content, tried to preview it, and the browser was searching my domain for some alphabet-soup.tmp page that kept getting "not found" errors....? So I uninstalled the DW and reinstalled it without the 8.02, but the question remains: How am I going to get the boxes off of my flash objects if I can't use the 8.02 updater? Do I need to delete this preferences folder mentioned earlier?... because I have no extensions that would be needing reinstalling. Please help... please!
