I am planning on developing a prototype website for my final year paper at university. I have never used dreamweaver before but have lynda learning tutorials available. My question is this, can the website i design be stored on a CD and run from the CD as i do not need to publish it. Also what is the best way to incorporate a search engine and database within the website.I am planning to have links to downloadable files within the website, is it worth using coldfusion for this or will another application be easier and more suitable. I have very little knowledge of website development and any help i can get will be appreciated.

a standard html site can be stored and ran from a cd.
also the downloadable files can be linked normally, and just stored in a folder on the cd somewhere.
stay away from using a scripting langauge, if the client end doesn't have it, it will fail.
