I am trying to set up a photo gallery for the site below:

www.cbrc.us/staging/gallery.html

As the above example hopefully illustrates, I wish to create a vertical, scrollable list in the left cell of thumbnails. Each thumbnail represents an event. Clicking on a thumbnail will procude in the right cell a _group_ of thumbnails for that event. clicking on _those_ thumbnails will produce a popup of that particular image for that event.

I have been reading about frames, but must admit to be puzzled about maintaining the overall design. Further, it seems from one of the esteemed post-ers here best to avoid frames. It seems like this task should be fairly simple.

What is the best way to accomplish this?
