Is there a way to link from a rollover img to a show/hide layer on the same page.

I'm using DWMX and would like to create a navigation drop down menu. I know DW can already do this but I was hoping that it also could be achieved by using layers. So using this site as an example, rolling the mouse over say Tutorials would reveal a drop down menu which I'm trying to achieve as a layer so that I can have more control over the way the dropdown menu looks.
