I work in DWMX, on a Mac, System 10.3.9. I've been designing sites for myself and a couple of friends -- by no means an expert, just learning as I go along. Using the Towers Book (DREAMWEAVER FOR WINDOWS AND MAC) as my reference guide. So far, so good. My big problem occurred very recently. All my sites are layers, but inexplicably I sat at my desk one day and suddenly it was as if EVERYTHING had changed: my menu bar, my mode, the options for tools. Suddenly I could no longer have layers and the "prevent layer overlaps" option seems permanently locked. Why? What did I do? The insert tool that had been so wonderful, allowing me to draw a box and insert an image or text ANYWHERE on the page, suddenly ONLY draws in the upper left corner. There are other things different as well, but these are the biggies I have noticed, preventing me from doing any work. Can someone, anyone, help me? It must be simple because no matter what page I open, these restraints/changes/tools/whatever are the same. And I need to get it back to the way it was.
Is it possible that I "switched modes" accidentally? I don't even know if it is the correct terminology, so I apologize. Thanks you all...
I'm also available to iChat, in case some kind soul would be willing.

sounds like you've gone into 'standard' or 'table' mode, when you want to be in 'layout' mode.
it's in the view menu somewhere, sorry i'm running DW8 now, so couldn't say for sure where it is on last version.
CTRL + F6 is the keyboard shortcut for switching.
