I need some starting points to develop a client side form validation extension that has the following capabilities:

User should be able to right click or use existing properties window of a form object to set custom validation options.
Form object that has validation should have a visual indicator that it is being validated, different color, checkmark overlay, etc.
Extension should be able to 'intelligently' update the client side JavaScript validation code.

Any pointers?
