OMG! MM Studio 8 and DW8 are announced and videos look cool. BUT, DMXzone here was for Ultradev users back in the days, so let's hear about Server-Behaviors... The video doesn't talk about anything new in the server-side department, but a little hunting on MM's site shows PHP5 and CFMX7 are built-in, yay! (CFMX7 has been available to DMX2004 owners as an extension)

Cool, PHP5, CFMX7... er, that's it?! Well, I'm sure the CF crowd gets a good handful of features, but I doubt the PHP5 will have much besides Show/Hide Region, User Login, and Repeat Region. Personally I would've liked to see more Server-Behaviors expanded but I can't cry total fowl until I get my upgrade or a full list is released on an MM blog. I'd like to hear if they finally adding some more conditional statements, but I love my DMXzone Advanced Conditioanl Region extensoin. It does look like MM took/borrowed ideas from a few extensions already out or old (commercial and free).

Well, let me help you out a little bit. If you already plan to upgrade anyway ($199 DW only; $399 Studio) then why not get something free with it!? MM is giving away a limited amount of Studio8 backpacks, but if you want something you can actually use with DW, then get a free suite of extensions! InterAKT is having a super-special promo that gives you ImpAKT ($129) for free with your DW upgrade (www.interaktonline.com/?af=88198)! 173 Server-Side commands (Server-Behaviors) added to your DW arsenal. I won't bore with details but I use it myself and they really are "what DW is missing" even for DW8 I'd assume, seriously.

NOTE: Yes, the links above use an affiliate link, but I make NO $$$ of the promo link. Interakt is probably gonna loose a lot of $$$ with the super-special promo, but WE (YOU) get a great deal with an upgrade you'll be purchasing anyway. Freakin' sweet!

I've also viewed all the video's but I cannot find anything special about Server Behaviours! When somebody knows more (maybe beta version) please post it here. Otherwise I will do my coding in Visual Studio and use Dreamweaver only for design work.

Interakt is indeed giving away some cool products. But how do count 173 server behaviours? I just received a mail from Interakt that says customers get 93 Server-Side features for free. But the bundle has only 4 real extensions. (ImPAKT)... but the deal is quite good and I think I will order it from the Affiliate program of Interakt.

We have copies of Studio MX2004 with Flash Professional and some without Flash Professional. On the website of MM I see that Studio 8 is having ALWAYS Flash Professional 8 boxed and not Flash Basic.

FireWorks 8 does not have many new features in my opinion...

93 features, some have multiple options (conditionals, etc.) so it should all add up to that 173 I see on the promo graphic.

I think they're pushing the Pro features to get all the WOW factor out there.

25 new blend modes will add a lot of sparkle to designs. I do feel the Auto-Shape properties panel might have been fine as a tab in the Properties panel instead of solo. I too feel there isn't a whole lot in FW8, but it's worth the bundle upgrade so I know I'll enjoy it anyhow.

Anyone have performance/white-paper info about the new Studio? I'd like to hear if any of the apps are faster besides the Flash Player.
