Hello everyone! My name is Jeremy and I currently run a small freelance design business here in Utah. I'm just getting into doing websites and still have so much to learn but I've been using Dreamweaver for awhile now and love it. I have a client who just paid someone $2500 to design the worst looking site I've ever seen. It has no flash, nothing dynamic about it at all and half the info he was supposed to put in he left out. They really got screwed. Regardless, I am trying to help them by redoing the site for a really low rate so that they don't have to pay an arm and a leg again.

Now to my horribly odd problem. I worked for 9 hrs yesterday and created a great flash header and had the page all set up and ready to go. I had all the buttons designed and all artwork in files and setup in a site. I have done alot of site updating for clients so I am familiar with the FTP and such. Everything was going great and then suddenly it all blew up. I have NO CLUE what happened. You can pull in graphics, setup the page, whatever but when you preview it in any browser it shows nothing now. It was fine... now nothing. Even the flash won't animate. I went through the troubleshooting on Macromedias site. Made a new page, nothing... made a new site with a new page, nothing... tried changing the name of the user profile for dreamweaver, nothing... I've checked my other sites I update and they come up just fine. I also had saved a bunch of instances of the page I was working on in case I needed to go back and when I opened one of the old instances it was able to open just fine in Explorer and show flash and the buttons worked. So... it is really odd that some things work others don't. I also went and made a new user profile in XP and downloaded a few images to test, then setup a new site and file and did an index page. It worked perfectly when I tested it in explorer under that user, so I wondered if maybe all of my graphics in the folder were corrupted? So I went back to my user name and downloaded the same graphics I had just tried under the other user name. I then made a brand new site with a new page and set it up exactly like the one I just made under the other user. NOTHING!! It comes up and just shows the x placeholder where the photos should be.

I pray someone will be able to help me here. I am so confused! Does anyone know what would cause this? It seems like a windows or explorer problem but why do my other sites work just fine? I will be eternally grateful to whoever can help me fix this and get me going again. They really need their site fixed quickly and I want to get it done this week if at all possible. Please let me know anything you can about this. Even if you just respond by saying that you have the same problem and don't know how to fix it either. At least then I'll know I'm not the only one. I look forward to hearing from you and getting to know you all better.

Thanks!
Jeremy

i doubt anything is corrupted.

try looking at the source code of the page where images/flash are breaking. check that the links to the files are correct. if your sure they are ok, try the page online and right click on a broken image and select properties.
this will show you the path the browser is trying to view the file from. 90% of the time the error is visible in the path here. then double check, the latest updated pages/images are in the correct folders on the webserver.
