Is it possible to preview site root relative documents locally, or do I just have to put up with the fact that it doesn't work. I usually preview sites remotely on a testing server anyway, but it would be nive to know if there's a way round this.___________________________________

i'm not with ya :/ maybe it's the way you said it.
sure you can run your files locally. ive have my IIS set up to handle both ASP & PHP as well as mySQL.
only bummer about this is with some hosts, you dont get access to the folder where your mySQL data is stored, so all your db planning goes to waste.
unless there is a workaround for this also.

Sorry, my mistake for not explaining things properly...
I can preview files locally, no problems. PHP, MySQL or whatever. However, if my files contain links that are site root relative, i.e. '/mypage.php' they do not display correctly in my browser if I preview them locally.
Another example, maybe there is a link to a CSS file in my document, say '/mystyles.css'. When I preview my HTML page locally I see all the content, but the browser doesn't know where the style sheet is so I get an unstyled document.
I like to use site root relative links because if I move something it doesn't matter, I don't have to go back and change all the links. I just can't seem to properly preview the pages locally and it would be nice to know if I can get round this in anyway.
Is that any clearer?
