I am converting my site from less that html loose dtd to xhtml 1.0 strict. The pages check fine using the w3c validator and the tidy extension in FireFox when I view them locally. When I post the pages, just before the closing head tag, <script language='javascript' src='127.0.0.1:3008/js.cgi?pca&r=11942'></script> is added. Also, <script language='javascript'>postamble();</script> is added at the very end of the page, after the closing body and html tags. I don't know where this code is coming from. It's not there until I post. Can anyone help?

Are you on some free hosting service?

No, I have two sites with the same problem. One is hosted by Sausage Hosting and the other by Lunar Pages. Both sites have been developed on my local machine with Dreamweaver MX 2004.

I'd seriously check your hosting provider and see if they add <i>any</i> code to files FTP'd up, to track pages or something like that. It's very strange, but that's where I'd look after checking all my includes/code, of course.

Are you using DW or an FTP program to upload your pages, or a web-based file manager from your host?

I upload directly from Dreamweaver. I noticed the first line of code looks like a reference to port 3005. I did a search for js.cgi which is mentioned in the first line of code and found someone with a similar problem using Zone Alarm Pro, which I also use. I have posted a message in that forum and will keep you posted if you like.

I sent the problem to Zone Alarm and this is what I got: "Turn off the privacy settings in ZA before uploading the files. Once they are uploaded you can turn them back on. This is a problem they are aware of." So, all those of you with Zone Alarm, please check. If it wasn't for HTML Tidy, I never would have known about this. If you use Fire Fox, you can get the extension HTML Validator 0.5.3. I don't know about IE.

My last message from Zone Alarm "Go to your Privacy's Main panel and if you see 'sliders' for cookies & ad-blocking, move the sliders to 'off' and tick the off button on mobile code control. If you do not see sliders, click on the 'custom' button in cookies and ad-blocking, uncheck everything, then click 'apply'." was very helpful. It worked exactly as described.
