I want to make a site, buy a server, and sell domains and hosting to people. I have no idea what language to use, I think ASP, but not sure, and I don't know where to start. Help me please! Replies

That's a big chunk of footwork you have yet to do. Reselling has quite a few responsibilities: customer relations, and account maintenance just to start with.
<b>You should check with your hosting providers and see who offers reselling</b>, or at least an affiliate system to refer customers and get cash that way. You might not have to rent/buy a server but reselling, they might just give you semi-admin privelages. If you plan to use Windows servers, then ASP makes sense; If you go with Linux, then PHP would be the better choice for that service.
Selling domains, you need to resell that too. I think TuCows (TooCows?) has domain reselling, and many other providers would be happy you sell domains for them too, so don't rule out anyone you haven't contacted. You should get into reselling SSL certificates too, since customers should grab those from you for anything semi-important.
Like I said earlier, there's much responsibility to selling hosting, so don't rush, be secure, and you'll stay secure.

How does reselling work? I went on a few sites and they say that you sell domains and web hosting through their servers, but do you have to learn any server languages for that?

<b>No</b>
and im not trying to be funny here m8, but the web doesnt need another reseller who doesnt know what he's doing. it's a very customer related business, so unless you can give them 110% of your experience, chances are it wont work for you.

I second that, <b>unfortunately, the web is rampant with security concerns/issues by both hostees and providers.</b>
Some host facilities will rent you a box, give you a login and toss you into the ocean. For hard-cores that is fine, but if you're "starting out" then you can easily get yourself kicked out for not properly administrating their box/security. I had one provider start talk crap that our box was in violation of their user agreement and I should get my box revoked. That time, the box was never hacked, just was slow and a <i>concern</i> of mine was that it was acting funny so they took it as "hacked."
And, I disagree with Dave because <b>it easily takes over 150% of your time/support</b> to deal, er, help customers, keep clientel coming along, and take care of current customers (support, questions, needs, problems, etc.)
In the kindest of advice: <i>Save yourself getting ulcers and headaches - just enjoy the Internet, don't try to rebuild it</i> - if that makes sense. <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
Honestly, if you're looking to save a few bucks on hosting yourself, don't resell, but keep looking for a cheaper (but good) solution. Ask around to people who use places already, then pick from the good ones. Remember, security is #1, features #2, and price #3.
