I'm some-what new to Fireworks MX, and am making a signature for a forum. In this sig, I want text to appear, but I want to be able to place pictures over parts of the text. Ex: A man's hand is over the "T" letter, covoring up half of the letter. I was thinking that there would be some sort-of box to check, or something, which would enable you to "take the text off of the front Layer". I will keep working on this (I'm sure that there is a simple solution).

Do you mean using the text as a mask for an image? - the mans' hand filling inside the 'T'? Or just the mans' hand covering the portion of the 'T' (hand on top of the 'T')?

if you create the text first

and then create or import the hand

the text WILL be taken backwards, and the hand will be the front layer.

depending on how the hand graphic is made will depend on how it appears over the text, but this can all be achieved easily either using a simple filter or mask.
