Just wondering if anyone has bought this extension and if so is
it worth its weight in gold for uploading images to server through
"funny enough...asp" or is there alternative routes.
Just kinda enquiring on its uses

In my knowledge I believe that PureASP Upload extension doesn't require any DLL's installed on the server, uses just raw ASP code. So, if your host company is sticklers of what is allowed on the server, then a pure ASP solution is worth its weight in gold for all sites.

Personally, I own the PurePHP Upload extension (with Add-ons) and I have fully enjoyed the abuse of it for all my PHP clients. I assume the ASP is pratically a one-to-one copy in features.

As for alternate routes, there are other extensions that do the same, and some that require custom DLL's be installed on your hosting server. As always, Macromedia's exchange (www.macromedia.com/exchange/) will list all industry submitted extensions.

Cheers Chris, i like the sound of "just raw asp code" seems like the simplest and most cost
effective way in the long run. Save ya time and money! <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
I will look into it,

Thanks.

What would prevent a malicious person from uploading a virus to your site?

I suppose I should have mentioned that I'm too cheap to by the extension. I found an article on MSDN's website about how to do this and it does actually work (even though I have nothing to compare it to):

msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnasdj01/html/asp0900.asp

So if I have the form, do I prevent unwanted uploads with a form validation script? If so, can anyone help me with that?
