I have yet to upgrade to DWMX2004. I would appreciate input from anyone who has used both if it is worth it. Does it work any better? Handle database queries any easier?

Any input would be appreciated.

Many thanks!

Your forum topic title states DW4 to DW MX2004. If you do <i>any</i> database/dynamic pages, and you know what Ultradev did, then yes it's worth the upgrade. Read on...

Does Windows work better as XP? Someways yes, and some no. Fix bugs, others pop up. You will find many DW MX lovers who hate MX2004, and vise-versa. Reguardless, it seems we all love Dreamweaver no matter what version I guess. <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

Yes and no. For easier queries look into extensions for DW MX/MX2004 like Advanced Query Wizard (www.advancedextensions.com), and QuB (www.interaktonline.com/Products/Dreamweaver-Extensions/QuB/Overview/. Otherwise use phpMyAdmin if you're on PHP/MySQL box, or something similar. If you're on MS SQL Server, then MS Access would work well for easier queries.

The change from MX to MX04 isn't as big as the change from UD to MX; but what sold me was the improved support for CSS.
I don't look back on MX and think 'how did I manage to survive working on that' but I am pleased with MX04 and wouldn't downgrade.

Huge difference between DW 4 and DW MX, but not much from DW MX to DW MX04 unless you are working in higher end application settings. I do like the new CSS rules applied and there are some differences in the interface, both good and bad (different). All in all, though, it performs very well unless you happen to have XP and upgrade to SP2. Some glitches there.
