Maybe someone could help me out here. Is there an application that I could have a map of the US and if the state is "active" in the db, then the state is a diff color?

I don't think there is an ready-to-use application for you solution. But why not develop your own?

With image components such as csImageFile you can manipulate images depending on records in your database.

With ASP (VBScript) and the csImageFile component you can create the whole app. www.chestysoft.com/imagefile/default.asp

If I do end up doing this, since it would be experimental as I go, would it be fair to charge the customer, or what should I do in that aspect?

I think you should never let the customer pay for your testing work. But, on the other hand, when you can sell you 'map of us' again, again and over again, of course the new customers has to pay also big money. Because you have invested time and thoughts!

When you come up with a very good solution (extention, new DLL file, or a installation package what produces ASP code) then you could sell the product.

I live in the Netherlands and I think such a application will be a 20 hours of work. And, of course, the state will have a different color in one image. No layers or other crap.

When you have the solution, you can do it for Europe, US, Middle-East, Japan, etc.

Keep me in touch, or otherwise mail me personally so we can develop a really great solution.
