I've just received my upgrade for Studio MX 2004 (from Studio MX) and am curious as to how good the upgrade process is.

Can MX 2004 work alongside MX (particularly DW)?

If not, does MX 2004 retain all my site information from the existing installation?

Should I uninstall MX before installing MX 2004?

The information in the box is zero and MM's site doesn't help me out either. I don't want to install it if I then hit lots of problems with existing projects.

The 2 versions install into different folders and are supposed to work alongside each other.

However I found that site information wasnt shared between the 2 versions in DW. Ok I thought, I'll just add the sites as I need to... that didnt sit well with either version. Loaded up DMX to find my site didn't exist but DMX2004 still retained the information. Exported the site from DMX2004 and imported it in DMX - then the site had disappeared from DMX2004.

I'm not saying that will hold true for everyone but in the end I just uninstalled both versions and only installed MX2004 (as I really like the CSS there)

Thanks for the info. I'm now slightly concerned about it all. I have, and use, the Intellicart extension by Tim Green and I've just found out it's not yet compatible with MX2004. Also, Tim says that he's having huge problems with 2004 constantly crashing. Do others suffer from this?

I now don't know what best to do. Try to install alongside MX and use both depending on what site I'm working on? Switch to 2004 completely and just suffer any problems. Hold fire until another update is released?
