Hello,

Adv HTML is SUPER, but when a client tries to update (edit) his "story" using a standard DW update page using Adv. HTML . . . Access seems to allow only one pass at this and then locks up consistently.

My continuing saga in not being able to update a memo field in Access more than once may be tied to a limitation of Access.

Here's info on the limit:
www.aspfaqs.com/aspfaqs/ShowFAQ.asp?FAQID=80

The suggestion is to make the memo field a local variable . . . which I don't know how to do.

I've run little WWW app's like this using PD HTML Editor without error and could do multiple edits of a story.

It seem only editing of the memo field causes the problem and then only corrupts that record in Access.

well the link you posted shows you exactly how to make a variable out of the memo field.

ive always used access and never had a memo field screw up data or lock me out, and i've never heard of these rules before you mentioned them.

if this problem is specific to using the Adv HTML editor then you should ask your question in the support forum created for that product, it may be a simple case of the cursor being set to read-only or something similiar.

i usually include my memo field last in any form i use, i dont know if that constitutes me following the 'rules', but it works, so i'm happy.

i do constant multiple updates of memo fields, my set up uses the RTE editor, a DSN for the db and an ODBC driver, JET has never worked for me, although its most probably something simple i cant be bothered to find out why as DSN is the safer option anyway.

Regards,
Dave

See the thread in this post. We think it was a misnamed field corrupting Access and spinning us all over the lot trying to debug.

WHY, or HOW the memo field is tied in, I do not know . . . but there was SOME relation, maybe indirect.
