My boss has asked me to research making a new website with 3 video screens running like this (warning, high bandwidth only) vortextlearningsystem.com/super_teaching.html website has, but he wants it in Flash MX. Is is possible to have a video file play in a flash page? Anyone have any suggestions as to a starting point for something like this? Replies

from flash 6 (mx) up video is a real possibility
flash mx 2004 pro is the best for video, but mx will do most of it too.
if i remember correctly i had to download a component set from the flash exchange to do video properly in mx, specially for streaming.
you get a set of components, media playback, etc..
you can import the video, make an .flv etc.. and its not bad if the video isnt too large or too big in screen size.
my latest project was converting a 440mb digital video to fit in a streaming flash page. I converted it first to an XviD compression and got the vid down to 36mb then imported it into flash and ended up with a 3mb .flv file
its a bad idea to compress twice, only i had no choice becuase my video was so large.
best of luck, there are quite a few video tutorials out there, do a google search.

Dave
