We are developing a grid layout for a travel site. We want the whole site to feel consistent, yet the flexibility to layout individual pages in 2-column, 3-column, and 4-column format. Has anyone studied what the best underlying grid would be, how many columns? Thanks for any suggestions. Replies

There's a wonderful book by a designer named Veruschka Gotz about just this subject. The name of the book is "Grids for the Internet and Other Digital Media." Amazon (and probably most other online book sellers) has it in stock.
