Well. I rarely use the built in functions for Database connections in DW. I tried it once and realized that I could write the same functions with 10 rows of code that DW needed almost 50 or 60 rows for.
Anyway. I run the same combination of computer, OS and DW as you do, but I haven't experienced any problems.
My recomendation would be to get a grip of hard (by-hand-) coding instead. It gives your applications so much more power and it saves you a bit of harddrive space.
