Fireworks help

Hello:This is a great looking site. I'm happy to find some FW/DW support... there doesn't seem to be a lot of it out there.
So, I'm am here to see if there is anyone here who could help me with a FW question.
On the url below, is a sample of a shape that I've applied a Radial effect to. But I always find when exported to a .gif, it looks horrible. Though it looks how I want it to look, when exported to a .jpg.
So, question is... is there some kind of effect or something I need to apply to allow the .gif to look as nice as the .jpg does?
TIA
[ url]URL removed, since there seems to be no one to get FW help from lol [ / url]

Well, here was the link
home.cogeco.ca/~storage_facility/test.htm
What I've found out so far is that it seems to be more a problem with FWMX as you can see in my very first image, I got it to work in the .gif as I used to do in ver. 4
Trouble seems to be:
I need to keep the colours to the RBG scale to stop it going over 256. But I change all settings to RBG & it doesn't hold. As soon as I select a 3rd colour to add in (say some text), I loose the RBG settings, it goes beyond 256 & the background goes icky.

Thanks for looking into that. Can't use the png as I'm making an animated image, so it has to be a gif.
As for the gradient.. I'm not sure what you've done there.
I use the gradient tool to selet the radial effect... what else can I use it for to help?
But I do notice when turning on the dither to 100%, it seems to make a huge difference & has been the only thing so far to help!
So, thank you very much!
I'm finding this MX version of both DW & FW, more buggy than ver. 4 (& I have the update patches applied)... overall, I would like to go back in time to ver. 4! lol

When you open the file that you've putted on the i-net within FW MX, you see the orginal/preview/2up/4up buttons.
This option say 4up for example, is a very good tool to see what will happen when you change settings to the orginal.
The 1st (left above) is the orginal file, the rest is a preview of the orginal.
If you click 1 of the preview views/window then every change you make (right above) will be seen in that selected view/window.
Try playing with some settings and try to select GIF adaptive 256 and-or reduce the colors to 64 or 36.
More combinations are possible to get the same results as i did before.
Photoshop gives better results.
If ya have more questions, just go ahead.
Happy Fireworkin'

Yes well.. I'm getting tired of the MX not really giving great results. I'm far well versed in it than Photoshop though.. but maybe time for a switch.
No matter what settings I change/fix, I just can't get it to work nicely.. certainly not as nicely as the one you uploaded.

The GIF format is not meant for images with gradients. There's no way to get around that fact that works very well.
One workaround is to add noise to the image in the form of a Texture. It fools the eye into believing the gradient is smoother by breaking up the transition from one color to another. The problem with adding noise is that it adds to the file size.
Have you considered exporting the animation from Fireworks in SWF format, or building it Flash?
Cheers!
