I know i have been ranting about this before, but resent event have shown that i was right from day one; Dreamweaver MX 2004 doesnt work as promised and has so many bugs that macromedia should be pulled to court- for wasting our time.On top of that the activation process is embarresing. The me explain: I packed my powerbook 17" and went to a board meeting to present my work so far for this new big company that i have managed to get an order from - after 6 months hard work.
They where sitting there, and i explained about all the things that i could do for them - showing them the lay-outs and so forth.
Then they asked me to do some changes - while i was sitting there, and i said offcourse.
I started DMX and... i got this #@!!!!!! requester saying that i neede to reactivate the program!!! Imagine my fury. Questions like: arent you working on registered software? and; we only can use people running legit software popped up. Trying to explain i asked for an internet connection, they said they didnt have any in that complex yet.
Then i defaultet to using the phone method, from my cellphone, and was being told it would take 6-8 minutes. I told the board, but by now they where annoyed. They wouldnt wait for this and stated they found it unprofessional!!!!
They left, telling me to come back when i got my act together. Macromedia this SUX BIG TIME.
On the top of all this i found the programme to constantly leave out the menu's when starting, and when installing many extensions - the last installed doesnt popup in serverbehaviours. This is crap as i use Ultrasuite.

Had you just installed the software, and hadn't registered it yet?
I have had no problems registering the DWMX04 software, and actually thought it was very simple.
Sorry for your situation, definitely some bad luck there.

me neither,
i actually didnt like MX when it came out and stayed using Ultradev, but i must say MX 2004 is absolutely fine, apart from the odd time when i import a site off my laptop to find it wont let me use the testing server (so no dynamic testing).
Best version to date in my mind.

Dave

Conman- to answer your question, yes it was registered allready. I have been working in DMX2004 for quiete some time now, and i see no reason for it to suddenly wanting to reactivate. I cant and will not tolerate this kind of unnessesary behaviour in software that i have payed for.
This could actually wind up costing me my new customer and by that a bundle of money!
I definately want for macromedia to return to the old and proven technique of a simple registration number, that doesnt involve cumbersome connections to macmromedia via phone or internet.
About the problem with many extensions - i can replicate the problem by having all the DMXZone extension that i have bought (5) ad 10 other and then Ultrasuite. Then the submenus for ultrasuite dissappears (ultrasuite has a lot of sub extensions). Removing all extensions but ultrasuite and two to three others, reestablish all ultrasuites submenus.
This problem didnt occut in DMX - only DMX2004.
I have tried everything from reformatting my drive and clean system only - to all kinds of setups involving all i could think of, but this problem remains.
