I'm getting this error when trying to update a record in my database.******************************
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Operation must use an updateable query.
/systemblokk/admin/forhandlere/detaljer2.asp, line 81
******************************
Everywhere I look at the web, I'm told that it's a permition problem, and that I should contact my host.
I have... many times...
And they claim everything to be ok from their side.
I also get this error from premade guestbooks, forums and everything I try to put out on my web-place.
Q: Anyone have a clue if there may be an other alternative to solve this problem...
Q: Is there a way to check if I have the right permitions to update the database?
Theese might be lame questions to ask ... I'm a n00b... hehe <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

are you including an "ID" numbered colum in the update?, this will give you errors.

As Far as I know, the ONLY thing that will cause this specific error is incorrect permissions, so your internet research is correct.
The folder that your database is stored in needs to have read, write, and delete permissions applied to it. So, I would be willing to bet that whoever is hosting your site has missed or overlooked something.
I know that this doesn't really solve your problem, but.......
