I'm using asp/sql2k

When I use asp upload and smart image together, and the image already exists on the server, the files get renamed with the _1 or whatever. However, instead of putting my image name in the database, it is putting the path, along with the image name. How can I stop this from happening? I don't want the path, and the path doesn't appear if the image doesn't already exist.
